How to play
- You have fourteen summer days on Larkspur Court to save for the red ten-speed in the window of Ostrander Hardware. You start with $10.00 and a card table.
- Each morning, read the forecast on the kitchen radio or in the Larkspur Courier. Watch for neighborhood news: it changes who walks by, how thirsty they are, and what supplies cost.
- Buy lemons, sugar, ice, and cups. Ice melts by evening, lemons go soft after three days, and sugar and cups keep. A pitcher makes eight cups.
- Set the recipe per pitcher. Neighbors differ: some like it tart, some like it sweet, and a watery batch pleases nobody. Their comments in the street are your clues.
- Set your price and how many signs to put up. A cheap cup sells to more people, a sign gets you noticed, and a good reputation brings the neighborhood back.
- Open the stand and watch the day. If you sell out or a downpour hits, the day ends early, but the money you made is yours to keep.
- Use Tab and the arrow keys or + and - on any number box, and Enter to open the stand. P or Esc pauses the day, F skips ahead, and M mutes. On a phone, tap the big buttons.
Every summer is a little different, and the hardest part is guessing the weather. Your best savings are kept on this device.
