How to play

  1. Out past the moon, you keep the sky's lamps lit with starlight mined from drifting moonrock. The moths want that light too. Every spark they catch goes to the Great Moth, a dark outline of twenty stars, and when its last star is lit, it wakes and wants your lamp.
  2. Steer with the arrow keys or W, A, S, and D, in eight directions. The skiff turns toward the key and speeds up along its heading, and when you let go it drifts to a stop. Press Space to fire, or hold it to keep firing. On a phone, drag the stick on the left and press Fire on the right.
  3. Shoot moonrock and sometimes a spark shakes loose. Fly into a spark to catch it for 100 points and one flare. You can carry twenty flares. A spark fades after sixteen seconds, and the moths are after the same ones you are.
  4. Moths are harmless to touch, but each one that reaches the Great Moth with a spark lights one of its stars. Shoot a moth for 150 points and it drops what it carried. More moths come out of the Great Moth every few seconds.
  5. Hornets sting the rock to shake sparks loose for the moths, and they sting you when you come near. A stinger or a touch costs a skiff, but moonrock stops stingers, so use it for cover. A hornet is worth 500 points.
  6. Press F or Shift to throw a flare, or use the Flare button. A flare flies toward the Great Moth and puts out one star, worth 500 points, unless a moth or hornet gets in the way. When all twenty stars are lit it wakes and hunts you, slower than your top speed, so you can run. Get it below eight stars and it comes apart for 10,000 points. Then the next night begins, with more of everything.
  7. Press P or Esc to pause and M to mute. You get an extra skiff every 25,000 points. The small chart in the top corner shows what is around you, and the Great Moth stays on it as a ring that fills as its stars are lit.
